Hello everyone & welcome back to the 49 and Market blog.
There’s something irresistibly heartwarming about the gentle cluck of chickens, the soft rustle of feathers, and the rustic charm they bring to any creative project. That’s exactly what inspired my newest layout using the Whispering Way collection—a delightful line filled with pastoral patterns, warm tones, and whimsical farm friends. For this project, I wanted to capture both the sweetness of the theme and the joy of hands-on creativity, bringing together texture, detail, and a sense of playful storytelling.
I began with a richly patterned paper from the collection as my background. The subtle prints instantly set the tone, adding depth without overwhelming the page. From there, I built a centrepiece using a large circular design—almost like a cozy nest in the middle of the layout. The circle acted as the perfect focal point, gently pulling the eye inward toward the featured photos and embellishments.
To bring more life and dimension to the page, I layered in a combination of rub-ons, hand stitching, and trims. The rub-ons added crisp, delicate details that blended seamlessly into the background, while the hand stitching brought a beautiful handmade touch, echoing the warmth of country living. The trims—soft, textured, and full of character—framed the circle with a homespun charm that felt just right for this theme.
Of course, Whispering Way wouldn’t be complete without its stunning laser cuts and chipboard pieces. These little treasures added structure and whimsy in all the right places—tiny chickens, rustic florals, and layered accents that gave the entire layout personality and movement.
Whether you’re chronicling moments from the coop or simply celebrating the simple pleasures of rural life, Whispering Way offers endless inspiration. This collection truly brings out the beauty in every cluck, feather, and fond memory.
